Not without my chillar party

People close to him swear by his genuine display of affection. And if there is anyone in the industry who is known to stand by his friends in tough times, it has to be Salman Khan. Known for his magnanimity and benevolent nature, Salman has always made it a point to go out of his way to help people he cares for. This time too the actor lived up to his image.

Apparently, the Chillar Party premiere was originally meant to be only for the cast and crew and their families. But at the eleventh hour, the kids wanted Salman, since he meant a lot to them. Now Salman was shooting miles away in Patiala for Sohail Khan’s Bodyguard.
“The kids got in touch with me two days before the premiere. They insisted that Salman bhai had to be there. These kids are so innocent and cute that it was impossible for us to turn them down,” said Sohail. Being the producer of the film Sohail said that he didn’t care about the loss incurred by stalling the shooting in Patiala.
So, the Dabaang star dropped everything and flew to Mumbai to be with the kids on their big day. Sohail arrived first and requested the kids to start the event and assured them that Salman would join them. His flight got delayed as a result of which he arrived late at the premiere. But as promised Salman did show up.
“The kids wanted me, so here I am,” said Salman. Elaborating more on his return to Mumbai, he said, “Bodyguard can wait but right now my ‘chillar party’ (referring to the kids) is my priority.” After winding up the event, the actor and his entourage headed back to the airport. “I have to get back to work,” he quipped while heading to the airport.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
