Rahman backs Rockstar
Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar has been receiving rave reviews, and everybody who has seen the promos is getting positive vibes that Ranbir and Imtiaz will taste success with this flick. In the middle of all this, however, the music of the film
has quietly slipped under the radar. If insiders are to be believed, A.R. Rahman has returned to his magician ways with an elaborate soundtrack that should make for a chartbuster.
“Rahman had a lukewarm 2010, with Raavan, Jhootha Hi Sahi, Robot and Ada all flopping. He has hedged his bets with Rockstar, and has composed a dramatic music score for it,” informs an insider. Interestingly, much before Ranbir stepped into the scene, Rahman and Imtiaz had already started discussing the film. “It was originally supposed to be made with John Abraham. And even when the film didn’t take off that time, the duo decided to work on it in the future,” a source says, adding that this was the reason why Imtiaz broke his association with Pritam despite the latter delivering hits Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal. — JT
