Ranbir to play Kishoreda
Legendary Bollywood star Kishore Kumar’s biopic has been a talking point for quite some time now. Not only because of the scale of the project, that deals with one of the biggest entertainers Bollywood has seen, but also because of the people involved with the project, which include names like Nagesh Kukunoor, Anurag Basu, Shoojit Sircar, Ranbir Kapoor, etc.
And even though the biopic had the full support of the singer-actor’s family, there have been several roadblocks. If Ranbir had problems committing to it, director Anurag Basu was also busy with his own assignments. But it seems all of that is a thing of the past, and we have confirmation that work on the biopic will soon be underway.
Amit Kumar, the singer’s son, confirms, “The biopic is going to happen. Hopefully, it will happen at the end of next year. Anurag Basu is going to direct it, UTV will produce it. As far as I know, Ranbir Kapoor is going to play Kishore Kumar.”
Ask Amit if he is happy with the decision of the Kapoor scion essaying the role of the singer-actor and he smiles, “I am very happy with it. A hero from the Kapoor dynasty is playing Kishore Kumar, the merger of the two is fantastic.”
Considering what a colourful life Kishore Kumar led — a major comedy star in the 50s, a popular singer in the 70s and 80s, and four marriages — it’s sure going to be one major venture.
