Ranbir’s playing favourites

B’town and its denizens change colours at the drop of a hat — faster than you can say “chameleon”. A case in point is apna Ranbir Kapoor. Time was when Ranbir couldn’t stop gushing about Deepika Padukone, and later, Nargis Fakhri. But when mediapersons recently asked him who he saw as the next female superstar, pat came the answer: “Anushka Sharma”. Says a source who was present at the event, “The obvious answer would have been Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor, but Ranbir just couldn’t stop singing Anushka’s praises.”
But there might be quite a compelling reason behind Ranbir’s praise for Anushka. “Right now, Ranbir’s market value is huge,” says a trade observer. “But he doesn’t have too many options where his leading ladies are concerned. Kat is too busy working with the Khans while Bebo is his cousin, so an onscreen pairing is out of the question. Anushka is a rising star and can bail Ranbir out.” We must say, that’s some sound reasoning.
