Rani’s got the right moves
Aiyya is making news for reasons more than one. Just when it seemed like the film may get trapped in a racism row, the song Dreamum Wakeupum has created a stir for its bold content. “Vidya Balan’s Ooh Laa Laa seems like a kindergarten affair in front of Dreamum Wakeupum. If Vidya’s act seemed scandalous in The Dirty Picture, then Rani has taken things to another level altogether,” says a filmmaker.
But Rani seems unperturbed by the brouhaha. She insists that the song is not a spoof of another song, but a tribute to the South Indian film industry. “The credit goes to my friend and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant. We have collaborated many times earlier and when we do so, we indulge in some mad dancing and masti on the sets. You have to see it to believe it,” says Rani adding, “We want the audience to experience the same madness. But having said that, Vaibhavi has worked in the South and is aware of the aesthetics and fabric of the industry. We have made sure that we do not offend anyone with our moves.”
