Rekha is Chitra’s reel-life idol

She was touted as the New Age Smita Patil after her serious and de-glamorous avatar in her debut film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. But Chitrangada Singh has changed her image since then, and her inspiration for the same is veteran actress Rekha. “I learnt a great deal from her. Rekhaji’s transformation from an average girl to a style icon over the years inspired me,” reveals Chitrangada.

The actress has been talked about for her glam quotient in films like Desi Boys and Inkaar. But unlike her contemporaries, the actress has chosen a reverse route — from de-glam to glam. “Like Rekhaji I felt the need to reinvent myself. I wanted to look good and get rid of the de-glam look. Having said that, I’d do a complete offbeat film again if it interests me.”
But that’s not the only similarity between the two sex sirens. Much like her idol, Chitrangada’s personal life is also always shrouded in mystery. We’re just saying.
