Return of Gandhi, albeit differently
Bin Laden and Hitler are not the only characters in history that are inspiring our directors. After movies like Tere Bin Laden and Dear Friend Hitler, we are soon going to have a film based on Gandhiji and Kasturba’s love story titled Gandhi Ki Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aanaa. The film will mark the directorial debut of Pranav Dhiwar and will be produced by Kaytee Movies.
The film deals with the emotional and unspoken love story of Mahatama Gandhi and Kasturba.
However, director Pranav Dhiwar informs, “It’s a modern day take on Gandhiji’s and Kasturba’s love story, done in good humour. I am not dealing with any kind of history here. My film will have many comic touches to it and even the hero who plays Gandhiji will be called Mac in the film.” Pranav, who has directed many serials earlier reveals that Karanvir RK, who is also producing the film, will be playing the lead role of Gandhiji. “We are looking out for a girl to essay the role of Kasturba,” he says.
The film is scheduled to go on floors August 15 onwards, in Gujarat. “My hero, who is also the producer, has accessibility in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat. So, we have planned to shoot there. But exact locations haven’t been finalised yet,” he says. Pranav has also been involved in editing Salman Khan’s Dabanng. “I was very busy with Dabanng. But now that it’s over, I plan to start my film soon,” he says.
But isn’t the subject controversy-prone? “It’s a well researched film. I know there will be controversies and I am ready for it,” he signs off confidently.
