RGV gets Maria’s neighbour onboard
Well, it’s not just Maria Susairaj alone who has inspired director Ram Gopal Varma for his next film Not Just a Love Story. The director has been taking the help of the Kannada actor’s friend and neighbour Subhash Dhankar to make his film as realistic as possible.
Subhash has been training Mahi Gill to portray Maria’s character onscreen for quite some time now. “I have been training Mahi to pick Maria’s mannerisms, her attitude, her walk and her language. And she has picked up all really well,” says Subhash, a real estate agent, who would also be seen playing a cop in the film.
Speaking about how he landed up with the role and the job, Subhash says, “One day I got a call from Ramu’s office. They were looking for a flat in Dheeraj Solitaire to shoot NJALS. That’s when I offered them to use my flat on the 15th floor in the building. And in the bargain RGV offered me a role in the film.”
But his involvement with NJALS isn’t just limited to providing the flat or grooming Mahi Gill, Subhash, incidentally has also been helping RGV with the characters, and their portrayal. “Whenever RGV asked for my inputs for the character, I gave them and he incorporated them as well,” he says.
Incidentally, Subhash had got Maria a flat in Dheeraj Solitaire and had known her since
then.
