Riteish defends Grand Masti
The multi-starrer Grand Masti has been attracting quite some flak for its sexual innuendos and risqué dialogues. Punjab and Haryana high courts have stayed the release of the film in their respective states.
While the makers of the film are naturally anxious about the move, Riteish Deshmukh seems to be maintaining a balanced approach towards it. “Ours is a democratic country and if someone seems to have a problem with the content of our film, we must respect their opinion. Having said that, it’s a matter of perspective. If someone feels that the film is offensive, I’ll hear him out. But I personally believe that we have made a film for those above the age of 18 and should be allowed to screen for them.”
He adds, “If at 18, one is allowed to drive, vote and choose the leader of the nation, one should be allowed to decide whether he or she wants to watch a film. Grand Masti is made in jest and should be viewed in that light alone.”
Since the censor board has passed the film, Riteish believes that challenging its decision is being disrespectful. “The board has already chopped bits that it didn’t like. Let’s not challenge that now,” he adds.
