Saif believes in playing safe
Aargh! Will someone please tell B’town filmmakers not to lead us on this “Clash of the Titans” path time and again? For months together, we hear all about how two powerful films are going to have a face-off at the box office, and just when we’ve placed our bets on which one will emerge the winner — one of the contenders decides to back down.
That’s exactly what has happened with the Agent Vinod-Ladies Versus Ricky Bahl battle. After months of dilly-dallying, Saif Ali Khan has finally decided to postpone the release date of Agent Vinod, putting off a box office showdown with Ranveer Singh’s Ladies. While Saif’s ladylove and leading lady Kareena Kapoor can’t be too happy about the delay (her Ek Main Aur Ek Tu has also been postponed), we’re sure Ranveer is heaving a sigh of relief.
But it wasn’t the competition from Ladies that made Saif bow down, says a veteran trade analyst: “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol is also releasing in December. In all probability, Saif didn’t want his spy thriller to get lost in the box office mayhem.” Sound reasoning Saif.
