Sallu insisted on action twist
Salman Khan is one man who knows how to have his way. After the super success of Wanted and Dabangg, the Khan seems to have his bearings quite well. Apparently, during the making of his upcoming film Bodyguard, he had instructed his team to make adequate changes to the script so as to make it more action-oriented, unlike the original Malayalam film, which has a strong emotional content. And the move was made because bhai didn’t want to disappoint his action-craving fans.
Industry insiders see this as a sensible move as the film’s title itself sends out strong vibes of muscle power. Since Salman plays Kareena’s bodyguard in the film, audiences will naturally expect a few stylised sequencings that show him bashing up a dozen goons at once. “That has been taken care of,” says a source, adding, “Salman loved the core idea of the film but he was particular about certain changes being made to the script. When he put forth his demands to director Siddique, the latter was more than happy to comply.”
Testifying to this, the director, who has recreated the subject four times in four different languages, says, “In the Malayalam version, the lead actor’s role was humour-based and required a boy-next-door look and Dileep played the role to perfection. The Tamil version was more romantic and needed a quintessential romantic hero, hence Vijay came into the picture. Now for the Hindi version, since Salman has a macho image, naturally the film became action-oriented.”
Now all eyes are waiting to see if the action twist proves favourable at the box-office for the fourth time in a row. If it does, then this would be Salman’s fourth super stroke at the box-office.
