Sanjay looks West again
Sanjay Gupta may still be grappling with the question of who to cast for his upcoming film Shootout At Wadala, but as it usually is, he’s decided what should be the inspiration behind his film. The buzz is that Sanjay has ordered for several DVDs of films by Ridley and Tony Scott, and has asked his technical crew to study their filmmaking details.
“Sanjay has often drawn inspiration from Hollywood; Kaante, for instance, was inspired by Reservoir Dogs. Similarly, for Musafir, he studied Oliver Stone’s U-Turn. Even his Zinda was remade from the Korean film Oldboy,” says a filmmaker.
“Tony Scott is a legend in this genre, among the best in the business. When it comes to the landscape and the sheer scale of things, Ridley Scott is the best. And since Shootout At Wadala is a similar film to their best efforts, Sanjay has made a conscious effort to learn from them,” says a close associate.
