‘Script demanded I be dropped’

After a few nondescript roles, Sonu Sood finally hit the big ticket with last year’s Dabangg. Playing the negative lead in the Salman Khan starrer, Sonu received both critical and mass acclaim. And although he finds himself out of the film’s sequel, he insists it was a decision taken because the script demanded it.
“It was entirely a creative call. I think the script wasn’t doing justice to the character of Cheddi Singh, so Arbaaz and I together took the decision that I won’t be a part of Dabangg 2,” Sonu says, explaining the decision to drop him.
Replacing Sonu will be Prakash Raj of Wanted and Singham fame. “He won’t be playing Cheddi Singh though; they are bringing in a new character,” Sonu adds.
