Sequel to Dabangg only in 2012

Salman Khan might have given his brother Arbaaz a superhit in the form of Dabangg, but he is not mixing professional commitments with personal relationships. Though one would have expected him to bring the sequel of the film on floors pronto in order to cash in on the blockbuster success of Dabangg, it’s not happening in the near future as he is too busy with his other assignments.
“Salman is really very busy and doesn’t have the required dates. Guess we will have to wait for a while,” says Arbaaz who, in the meantime, is going ahead with getting the groundwork in place for the sequel.
Currently, Salman Khan has Ready on floors. In January next year, he starts Bodyguard with Kareena Kapoor under the direction of brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri. Post that he will be working on buddy Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick where he will work with his Jaan-E-Mann director Shirish Kunder. Only after that will Dabangg 2 begin. “The kind of line up that Salman already has, it would have been unfair to expect Dabangg 2 to start earlier than 2012,” reasons Arbaaz, “It’s okay as there is a certain amount of investment required in our film. Expectations are very high with the sequel and we don’t want to do a rush job.”
Though there were rumours that Sohail would call the shots for Dabangg 2 instead of Abhinav Kashyap, Arbaaz says there are no such plans. “Abhi tak toh aisi naubat aayi nahi hai,” he says, “I don’t want to change the winning combination. Abhinav will make the film and as of now, he is on board.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
