Slapstick comedies for Kalki
Her portrayal of Natasha in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara may have had quite a comic touch, but it is in My Friend Pinto that Kalki Koechlin will be seen in a full-fledged comedy role.
Kalki points out that the comedy in MFP won’t be of the slapstick sort, as seen in Double Dhamaal and Rascals. “These films are of a different genre, and that’s good for them. Our film is a more old-fashioned comedy and we’re happy to be in that space. It’s inspired by films made by Charlie Chaplin and Raj Kapoor, or in contemporary times, Kundan Shah,” she says.
However, Kalki clarifies, “Whether it is Rascals or anything else that comes my way, if it is something that I have never done before, I would most definitely take it up. I have nothing against slapstick comedies provided the content is original.”
Mmm…now that’s probably the same statement that got poor Kangna Ranaut into her own “comedy of errors” (Rascals).
