Sona moves from glam to arthouse
Sonakshi Sinha, who had the most sensational debut in recent years with Dabangg, has been riding a wave of luck with future assignments as well. She talks about some of them being “arthouse”:
n Was taking up an offbeat film like Lootera a big risk?
When Vikram (Motwane) narrated the script to me, I was moved to tears. It’s going to be my most challenging role ever. As an actor, I need to do different things to stay interested.
n After having worked with older stars like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, this is the first time you are working with a co-star your age in Ranveer Singh.
You adjust with everyone regardless of age. If I’m working with superstars like Salman or Akshay, uss me harz kya hai (what’s the problem)?
n You have been very vocal about your adulation for Ranveer. Are you excited to work with him?
I am looking forward to working with him. We started our careers together and bagged all our debut awards alongside. It will be a good combination on-screen.
n Be it Dabangg or Joker, or even Lootera, you have always sported Indian wear. Would you experiment with Western wear?
I am wearing Western outfits for half the time in Joker as well. But I am an Indian, and a Hindi film heroine. So while I am perfectly open to doing Western roles, if people see me fit to play the typical Indian heroine, I am fine with that as well.
