Sonu enjoys best of both worlds
It may have taken a tad long, but Sonu believes that he has got his due in the film industry — both in Bollywood and in the South. Despite a good performance in Yuva and Bhagat Singh, Sonu had to wait until Dabangg to earn his “star” status. But the man has no complaints.
“The wait can get to you, but thankfully for me, I channelised it in the right direction by working out and looking fitter,” says the actor who has quite effortlessly taken to Southern films as well. “The grandeur and discipline of actors down South is incomparable. I am glad I can have the best of both worlds,” he says, adding, “Actors no longer have to restrict themselves to any one industry. It probably was a problem a few years ago due to language issues, but I am glad that now we can pursue work wherever we want.”
Sonu, who has also portrayed several grey shades on screen since his entry in B-town believes it’s going to be a while before he can be compared to the likes of Mogambo. “I have a long way to go. It’s no easy task filling in the shoes of Praan saab, Prem Chopra or Amrish Puri,” he says.
