SRK has the last laugh
Shah Rukh Khan had to battle a few anxious moments when his detractors tried to badmouth Don 2, soon after its press preview. But now that the film continues to rake in big moolah at the box office even on weekdays, many out there are eating their words while the King is smiling all the way to the bank.
“Don 2 is doing really good business. All eyes are on how far will it go,” says a trade analyst. “As of now, one can safely say that the film is poised to enter the `100 crore club and if it does, then it will be SRK’s second century in a row, after Ra.One.
But despite all the success, some also feel that Shah Rukh is treading on shaky grounds, often giving his critics room to pull him down. Says a prominent filmmaker on condition of anonymity, “If he plays to his strengths and serenades women in chiffon saris as he does in a Yash Raj film, he is bound to create ripples in the industry. But of late, he has been experimenting a lot, making a conscious effort to stay away from mushy affairs, so the results are bound to be mixed.”
Time to get back to romance, Shah Rukh?
