Stars stayed away from KPC

Considering that his directorial debut made a star out of Farhan Akhtar and lent credibility to Arjun Rampal as an actor, one would have expected Abhishek Kapoor’s next film to boast of even more established stars.

In fact, Abhishek did want to cast stars for Kai Po Che. But the disheartening response he received forced the director to look elsewhere.
Says Abhishek, “Yes, I did toy with the idea of roping in stars. However, I could see that they had apprehensions. Anyway, I was very fortunate to get three fabulous actors in the form of Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Rajkumar Yadav. At the end of the day, you need to get the right guys. Also, working with newcomers is not new to me — even Farhan was new when I worked with him in Rock On.”
