Stripping for fame

Chitrangda Singh is finally getting her due for Desi Boyz. Though she was missing in action for the film’s first theatrical promo, she is much more visible in the second promo that has just been released. While it is pretty much established that Akshay Kumar addressed Deepika Padukone as his bhabhi in the film, it is Chitrangda who entices him with her moves.
“Chitrangda is known for her bold image and in each of her films so far, most of them being offbeat, she has come across as a lady who is quite sure about her sexual quotient”, says an industry follower, “Now even a hardcore commercial film like Desi Boyz, she conveys the point quite clearly to Akshay”
The sequence is centred on a situation in the film where Chitrangda offers to gradually strip for Akshay provided he gets the right answers for all the questions he is preparing for. However instead of getting into a seductive mode, the sequence has a fun feel to it which is meant to incite laughter amongst audience. Says a source, “Even the promo is clearly indicating that there is this naughty banter between Akshay and Chitrangda. Desi Boyz isn’t another American Pie in the making where actors would go all the way. Also, despite the on-screen image that Chitrangda has built over the years, she has never indulged into skin show despite what her gestures and mannerisms may suggest. Even Akshay always caters to family audience and Desi Boyz isn’t going to be any different. Don’t expect any adult content here but yes, laughter is definitely guaranteed due to the way this scene is played.”
This is pretty much confirmed by director Rohit Dhwan too who, in his debut effort, is ensuring that the film evolves into a classy product with a touch of humour to it that doesn’t cross any boundaries.
“Yes, Chitrangda does offer to strip for Akshay but how far does she indeed go is something that should stay on to be a suspense element, isn’t it?” asks Rohit and adds,, “Having said that let me again reiterate that ‘Desi Boyz’ is a fun entertainer and there is no scope for vulgarity here.”
Incidentally this was also the last sequence that Chitrangda had shot for after she had canned all her portions for the film.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
