Underworld tale of betrayal to bring 70s back to life
Post the successful LSD, Balaji is all set with their next offering Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, directed by Milan Luthria. The film’s theatrical trailer was released alongside Anurag Basu’s Kites, on May 21.
Set primarily in the 70s, the film traces the changing faces of the Mumbai underworld. The story follows the rise of Sultan, played by Ajay Devgn, who is eventually betrayed by his protégé Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi) and how the latter comes to rule supreme over the murky underbelly of the city.
According to sources, the response to the trailer has been overwhelming. The slick style and real look and feel of the film is being widely appreciated. “In a day and age where production houses are churning out one comedy and romantic flick after another, Balaji dares to be different and comes out with a slick and entertaining film that makes you re-live the iconic days of the Mumbai of 1970s,” the source said.
The film will hit the theatres worldwide on July 30.
