Vidya’s fine sans the Khans
Vidya Balan is feeling great where she is: On top of the world. Having pulled off two superhits single-handedly, she has got time on her hands to decide on her career, and though she doesn’t have films opposite the big stars of the industry, Vidya says it’s all going to script.
“I am an actor who has always wanted to be different people onscreen. A lot of people have said that you’ve done everything but now, you will have to do a film with the three Khans. I would love to do it and there’s no running away from that. But I am happy with what I am doing. When the right opportunity comes my way, I will inshallah work with these people,” she says, perhaps mimicking one of the Khans with his favourite catchphrase there.
But not only is Vidya not signing films opposite the big stars though, she doesn’t seem to be signing films at all. “I choose the kind of work that really excite me. People have told me that I am a heroine and a heroine’s shelf life is really limited. But I never felt it’s necessary to prove things. I am doing things at my pace. Invariably, I am doing one-two films a year and I am alright with that,” she says.
