Vivek to seek views on Matru

Vivek Oberoi, who entered the film industry with a stellar debut in Company, may have made a few wrong choices in his career. But the actor intends to do all he can to reclaim his days of glory.

For his next film Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story, he has come up with a unique way to build his own character — Jayantabhai — while at the same time spreading the word about his film. When Vishal Bharadwaj’s much-hyped film Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola releases this weekend, Vivek will be seen outside single screen theatres in Mumbai dressed as Jayantabhai. Vivek feels his character is similar to Matru. “The idea behind his visit to the theatres is to check reactions of people to the people. He wants to see if a raw character like that works for the public,” says his spokesperson.
Cashing in on a well-known film is a masterstroke indeed. Now to see if it works.
