Vivek steers clear of controversies
Here’s one man who’s learnt from his mistakes. Vivek Oberoi, who paid the price for being too outspoken for his own good, is keeping a low profile these days, even as his contemporaries wage war against each other.
“The industry may be taking sides post the Department debacle, but Vivek has decided to not be a part of any camp. The going is good for him and he doesn’t want to spoil things for himself,” says a close associate.
And it’s also a very sensible decision. For taking sides would involve choosing between Ram Gopal Varma — who launched him in Company and gave him a new lease of life with Rakhta Charitra — and Sanjay Dutt, who’s working with him in Zilla Ghaziabad and Sher. “He has matured in a big way and is taking decisions with his head instead of his heart. His career is in a good place today, and the last thing Vivek would want is to wade into a controversy,” says an industry veteran.
