What’s in a name? Ask KJo

With only two days to the release of Dharma Productions’ highly anticipated Agneepath, it might come as a surprise to the audience to know that KJo wondered if the film should even be called by the same name as the cult classic original.

“When Karan Malhotra came to him with the final draft of the new Agneepath, it was evident that while the core conflict and characters had been maintained, the overall narrative and treatment had changed. It was a completely different film from the Mukul S. Anand original,” says a production house aide. That’s when KJo summoned the team and initiated a discussion on whether the title should be changed from Agneepath. But KJo finally chose to maintain the status quo.
“Yes, we could have almost changed the title, but since the core of the original was still intact; we decided to continue with Agneepath,” KJo says. Good call, we say.
