When a crore is just not enough

Inflation is a word we’re getting used to these days, so is it any wonder that along with everything else, stars too are hiking their prices? After all, mehengai ka zamana hai! And none come more expensive than Salman Khan.

The buzz in B’town is that Sallu recently spurned a request to make an appearance attend an event in Dubai — all because he wasn’t satisfied with the money that was being offered to him for the half-hour appearance. The amount he was being offered: `1 crore.
“Salman was to be flown to and from Dubai in a chartered plane and was offered a crore to be present at the event,” an industry source revealed.
But Sallu felt his time was slightly more precious than what was being offered. Apparently, it was Salman’s media manager who told the actor that he should hold out for a better offer, and has suggested that Sallu put into effect a hike in his payments. The actor will now charge nothing less than Rs 1.75 crore for events and appearances. In fact, a doubling of his film fees may also be in the offing. “Glitz and glamour doesn’t come cheap, and the Khan brigade is out to prove it,” our source added.
