When a nephew played his uncle!

With all the buzz around The Dirty Picture being around Vidya Balan’s rendition of Silk Smitha, here’s another interesting twist: Co-star Emraan Hashmi is playing the role of real-life uncle Mahesh Bhatt!
Those in the know tell us that Emraan’s character is modelled on the love-hate relationship the veteran director shared with the South sex symbol. “It wasn’t a personal thing,” our source explains. “It was just that Mahesh came from a more serious school of thought and thought that the glamour and oomph that was Silk’s trademark took away from what cinema was supposed to be about. At the same time he was oddly fascinated by her.”
While how much of the director’s equation with Silk changed once he worked with her successor Disco Shanthi is not known, Emraan will be portraying his uncle’s conflicting emotions on screen.
Incidentally, this would be the fourth time that Mahesh will be portrayed on screen; Arth, Zakhm and Wo Lamhe all showcased aspects of the director’s life.
