Why is Ranveer going into hiding?
Don’t be too surprised if Ranveer Singh lies low for a while, doesn’t answer calls and stays away from the social networking world too. The actor is trying to steep himself in the spirit of the 1950s, the era in which his film Lootera is based.
Now the one question Ranveer’s been asked ever since Vikramaditya Motwane’s film was announced, is which films and directors from the 50s have served as his reference point. A thoughtful Ranveer answers, “I would like to create an original character as much as possible rather than take references. It does help to take your cue from films of that era just to understand the energy that was prevalent then.”
Ranveer gives us an indication of the preparation he is undergoing for the film. “The generation that lived in the 1950s would not have grown up on television or mobile phones so they were sociologically, very different from people of today,” Ranveer says, adding, “To go back to that time would mean downscaling your life. I might discard a lot of today’s baggage.”
