Will Diwali 2013 be Shah Rukh’s?

The battle lines have been drawn — for the first time in over a decade, the superstars of Bollywood have already marked out their turf on the festive release calendar for the coming year, while the only one to stay mum is Shah Rukh Khan.

While Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have booked Eid, Hrithik Roshan has confirmed a Diwali arrival and Aamir Khan is set for a Christmas release. But SRK, who can usually be counted on for a Diwali slot, hasn’t even confirmed the plans for his projects Chennai Express and Happy New Year.
“This is rather uncharacteristic,” says an insider, “Shah Rukh’s films are made for Diwali, and his last two, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ra. One, had kept their appointment with the date as well.” There is speculation that he will bring Chennai Express out on Diwali after all.
“Let’s not forget that Diwali is as much Shah Rukh’s territory as it is Rohit Shetty’s, and the fun-n-frolic feel of Chennai Express is ideally suited for a festival arrival,” our source adds.
