Will Sonam soon say Kolaveri Di?

The year 2012 will see Sonam Kapoor learn a whole new language: Tamil. All this is apparently in a bid to impress Mani Ratnam, in whose film Sonam will be seen next. Apparently, the director was insistent that the Punjabi kudi prepare for the role in an authentic fashion, and Sonam was only too happy to oblige.
A little birdie in the know told us that initially Sonam was supposed to have a professional dubbing artiste record for her. “But Mani sir didn’t want that to be a reason for Sonam to take it easy. He wanted her to be able to understand the vocabulary, the language and its nuances while she was mouthing her lines on the sets. He thinks that’s a must if Sonam wants to get her body language and expressions in sync with her dialogue delivery,” our source says.
Fortunately, as the film will go on the floors late in 2012, Sonam has nearly a year to get her linguistic act down pat. “Sonam is really excited,” says a friend of the actress. “Her Tamil lessons should kickstart next summer.”
