Apollo, Aircel to launch mobile health services
Sept. 29: For the first time in India medical help for mobile subscribers will be just a phone call away. Aircel and Apollo Hospitals have joined hands to introduce a mobile phone service that will make available medical experts to subscribers at any time and any place. The experts from Apollo will diagnose the disease and offer you advise, forward your call to the emergency room, and wherever possible fix an appointment with the doctor and deliver you the medicine.
While initially the service will be available to 45 million Aircel subscribers, Apollo Hospitals Group, chairman, Dr Prathap C. Reddy said that the company will not like to restrict this service. “We will not let down people who want this,” said Dr Reddy. “This service will bring great access which was not available earlier. It will not only bring access but instant access. In medicine few seconds make a lot of difference,” said Dr Reddy. He said that the people who are shy to share their health details or are lazy will find it easy to call up for advice.
The subscribers will be charged `45 for a single consultation, which could include many calls in a day. The service is expected to be launched from Chennai around Diwali. It will be rolled out nationally.
