BPCL posts profit on lower crude
Lower price of crude oil has helped oil marketing major Bharat Petroleum post better numbers for FY10, even as the government cut subsidy support to the firm.
BPCL recorded a net profit of Rs 1,720 crore for FY10 versus a net profits of Rs 724 crore in the year before. Profits for the fourth quarter were lower during FY09 as bulk o
f the government’s subsidy was awarded in the fourth quarter.
The net sales stood at Rs 123,817 crore — down nine per cent from the previous year. The drop in sales is because the price of petroleum products has dropped in line with the crude oil prices.
