BSNL launches video telephony service in Indore
BSNL launched its video telephony service in Indore on Wednesday. With this, people will be able to view each other while calling on landline phone. The launch is a value addition to the BSNL landline service and is aimed particularly at the enterprise segment and international callers.
"Video-cum-voice call would cost Rs 2.50 per minute and while only a voice call would cost Re one per minute," Indore BSNL Circle GM G.C. Pandey told in a press conference here.
Indore has a target of 500 VVOBB (Voice and Video over Broadband) connections by December end, Pandey said adding that any BSNL landline subscriber with a Broadband connection can apply for VVOBB phone.
The plan was opened for 98,000 basic landline users, he said.
Sai InfoSystem (India) Ltd (SIS) would provide the equipment at a varying cost of Rs 6,500 to Rs 17,000 and BSNL would extend the infrastructure on this very system, he said.
This would also be applied for tele-education, tele-medicine, tele-surveillance and e-governance, he said.
