Chilean airline to buy 50 new Airbus planes
Santiago, July 21: Chile's LAN Airlines has said it will buy 50 Airbus planes as part of a deal worth $4.15 billion between 2012 and 2016.
Under the agreement, the airline will buy A319, A320 and 210-seater A321 aircraft.
The new airplanes are "highly efficient" in fuel consumption, designed with advanced technology to help diminish the effects of global warming and also lower noise levels, LAN said in a statement.
LAN also contemplates the sale of its 15 A318 aircraft between 2011-2013 and procurement of CFM56-5B engines to equip the Airbus A320 that will be incorporated into the fleet beginning next year.
