GOPAL DAS has been appointed chairman and managing director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). Mr Das who joined BSNL in 2007 was earlier with MTNL in Mumbai, as chief general manager, (wireless services). His experience in the telecom sector spans 33 years starting with the department of telecom’s Group A services in 1975.
ROHIT MONGA has taken over as business head of the technology web solutions arm of Quasar. Mr Monga joins from ANMsoft Technologies. Prior to this, he had held various positions in corporates like Numedios Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and ITpreneurs.
KULDIP KAURA has taken over as chief executive officer and managing director of ACC. Prior to this, he was the CEO of Vedanta Resources Plc.
P.R. SOMASUNDARAM has assumed charge as managing director and chief executive officer of Lakshmi Vilas Bank. He was with TCS and Unilever (India) before joining Standard Chartered Bank as the Ceo and managing director STCI Capital Markets Ltd.
Paul McGarty has been made president for Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc, the US subsidiary of Lupin Ltd. Recently Mr McGarty, was the CEO of Nycomed US. He spent more than 25 years in pharma sector.
LAURIE BOWEN has been appointed president of sales and strategy for global data and mobility at Tata Communications. She has held a number of leadership roles at BT and spent over 20 years at IBM.
Media Watch
Lodestar UM has been awarded the media duties of Coca Cola in a multi-agency pitch. The business had earlier been with Madison Media for 11 years. Industry sources peg the business at over Rs 200 crore according to exchange4media.
OMD and MEC will share the media duties of Reliance Communication after a multi-agency pitch. The incumbent on the business was Mudra Max. OMD will handle the wireless data business while the wireless voice, including Reliance’s CDMA and GSM services and the 3G business has been handed over to MEC.
