Google, AP reach deal on online news
Google and the Associated Press have reached a new deal that will allow the web-search giant to continue running stories from the AP on its Google News site, the Internet company said on Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the announcement, which was posted on Google’s official blog. Google has not been linking directly to breaking AP stories since January when a previous agreement between the two sides expired.
However, Google still referred readers to older AP stories, and to AP stories at AP clients websites under a temporary licensing agreement. “We’ve extended our existing licensing agreement with the Associated Press that permits us to host its content on Google properties such as Google News.
We look forward to future collaborations, including on ways Google and AP can work together to create a better user experience and new revenue opportunities," Google said on its blog.
