Help us find oil, Pakistan tells China

President Asif Ali Zardari has urged China to help Pakistan drill for oil and gas and reactivate depleted and abandoned oil fields across the country.

Zardari made the appeal to a delegation of Chinese experts here on Friday, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported. Zardari said Pakistan faced an “energy emergency” and that the government had decided to channel all resources to meet the challenge. A presidential spokesman said Zardari was focusing on tapping all available resources, including reactivating the abandoned and depleted oil and gas fields to meet domestic requirements.

Zardari, who promised security to Chinese businessmen in Pakistan, also sought Chinese technology in port management, financial services, banking and investment, food and agriculture.
