Industry grows by 13.5% in March
The industrial production grew by 13.5 per cent in March led by a strong growth in the manufacturing sector. This is the sixth straight month of over 10 per cent growth in the industrial production.
Industrial production had grown by 15.1 per cent in February. Though industrial production in March was less compared to February, any growth in double digits should be welcomed.
“We are hoping that during 2010-11, we will close the fiscal with double digit factory output,” the planning commission deputy chairman, Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, said.
Ficci, secretary general, Dr Amit Mitra, said the outlook for manufacturing sector remains positive as consumer and industrial demand is healthy, evident from the growth of capital goods and consumer durable sector.
