ITC's second quarter net up 21.46 per cent
Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) major ITC on Monday reported an increase of 21.46 per cent in its net profit for the second quarter of the current fiscal at Rs.1,514.31 crore as compared to Rs.1,246.74 crore in the like period of 2010-11.
The total income of the FMCG major has increased by 18.22 per cent in the period under review at Rs.6,266.02 crore from Rs.5,300.13 crore for the corresponding period of last year.
The company reported net sales increase of 18.56 per cent in its cigarettes segment at Rs.1728.90 crore from Rs.1458.22 crore in the July-September quarter in 2010-11.
The net sales of the hotel segment of the company also increased by 24 per cent at Rs.49.44 crore as against Rs.39.87 crore in the second quarter of last fiscal.
The paper boards, paper and packing segment's net sales rose by 18 per cent at Rs.289.70 crore as compared to Rs.245.64 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
The net sales of agriculture business too reported good figures with an increase of 15 per cent at Rs.238.78 crore from Rs.207.63 crore in the like period of 2010-11.
For the half year the company reported an increase of 22.87 per cent in its net profit which stood at Rs.2,847.03 crore as against Rs.2,317.05 crore in the like period of last fiscal.
The total income of the FMCG giant rose by 18 per cent at Rs.11,828.10 crore in the first half of the fiscal as compared to Rs.10,034.44 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
The scrip price of the company at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) closed at Rs.206.90 up 1.60 per cent.
