Maran’s SpiceJet shifts to Chennai
Nov 25: Gurgaon-based low-cost airline SpiceJet announced that it has decided to shift its registered office from Delhi to Chennai.
The board of directors of the company at its meeting held on Thursday approved the proposal, the company said in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing on Thursday.
This shift however, say company sources, is only for statutory purposes. Till now, the address of SpiceJet’s registered office was at the Cargo complex of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Only this address has been changed to the Chennai address. All other operations will continue to happen from New Delhi,” they said.
In fact, the newly appointed chief operating officer of Spicejet, Mr S Natrajhen, is also reported to have moved to Delhi to oversee the operations.
Southern media baron Mr Kalanithi Maran acquired 38.66 per cent stake in the airline and took over as chairman of Spicejet on November 15.
