Maran rejigs Spicejet board
Chennai, Nov 15: Low-cost carrier Spicejet now has a new boss. Sun TV chief Mr Kalanithi Maran took over the reins of the company as chairman and managing director.
Soon after his induction, he appointed four of his nominees — Mr S. Sridharan, Mr J. Ravindran, Mr Nicholas Martin Paul and Mr M. K. Harinarayanan —as independent directors of the company at a board meeting held on Monday.
Mr Maran’s wife Ms Kavery Kalanithi has also been inducted into the board as a non-independent director of the company. With a view to paving the way for the new faces, erstwhile directors of the low-cost carrier, Mr B.S. Kansagra, Mr Kishore Gupta, Mr Mukkaram Jan and Mr Vijay Kumar put in their papers. Mr S. Natrajhen has been appointed as the chief operating officer of the company. Mr Kalanithi Maran jointly with KAL Airways Private Limited now holds 38.66 per cent stake in the airline.
