Micron names Mark Durcan interim CEO
Semiconductor maker Micron Technology has named Mark Durcan its interim chief executive officer to replace Steve Appleton, who had died in a plane crash.
The company's board of directors also announced Saturday the appointment of Robert Switz as chairman of the board and Mark Adams as president.
"We are fortunate to be able to appoint someone with Mark's operations and technical leadership experience to serve as the company's CEO," Switz said in a statement.
The new CEO had been 'instrumental in Micron's success' while serving previously as president and chief operating officer of the company, he added.
Appleton died when his single-engine Lancair plane caught fire and went down between two runways at Boise Airport Friday. He was the only person aboard.
Micron is one of the world's leading makers of advanced semiconductors. It manufactures a wide variety of flash memory devices, as well as other innovative memory technologies and semiconductor systems.
