Microsoft Q4 profit soars 48pc to USD 4.52 bn
New York, July 23: Microsoft Corp's profit surged 48 per cent to USD 4.52 billion for the three months ended June, mainly boosted by strong sales of Windows 7 and Office 2010.
The software giant's good showing is yet another broad indication that corporates have started to spend more on technology whereas business expenditure were crimped in the wake of the financial crisis.
The company had raked in a profit of USD 3.05 billion in the comparable period, it said in a statement on Thursday.
On the back of robust product portfolio, Microsoft saw its fourth-quarter revenues climb to USD 16.04 billion as compared to the same period a year ago.
"We saw strong sales execution across all our businesses, particularly in the enterprise with Windows 7 and Office 2010," Microsoft's Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner said.
The firm launched Office 2010 in the second quarter.
