Nasscom eyes 10,000 start-ups
Hyderabad: Everyone thinks about improving the healthcare system in rural areas. But implementation becomes an impediment to big dreams. Putting their thoughts into work, a group of students designed an application called Swasthya Sanjivani, which enables offer quick, affordable and automatised healthcare services to people in remote areas.
This app has paved way for the technology team, Path Finders, from MRCE, Faridabad to fly to St. Petersburg, Russia to participate in the Imagine Cup Wodlwide Finals.
“Such ideas might bloom into start-ups,” said Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman, Microsoft India at the Imagine Cup national finals held here on Wednesday.
Throwing light on the start-up ecosystem in India, Nasscom president Som Mittal said that the number of start-ups have tripled in the last six years in India. “Our aim is to have 10,000 start-ups in 10 years. Of this, we expect at 15 companies to become billion dollar companies,” Mittal said.
India has 32 per cent of start-ups that are focused on cloud computing/big data, 29 per cent on education and a significant 21 per cent on mobile space, said Nasscom.
