OVL bid for BP’s asset soon
New Delhi, July 27: ONGC Videsh (OVL) along with PetroVietnam are expected to make a formal offer within the next few weeks to buy BP’s stake in an offshore Vietnamese gas field, the petroleum secretary, Mr S. Sundareshan, said on Tuesday.
“We have given our interest for BP’s stake. And we have also stated that we would like to work collectively with PetroVietnam. PetroVietnam is talking to BP, we are also talking to them. I think in the next few weeks, OVL and PetroVietnam are likely to make an offer,” Mr Sundareshan said.
ONGC has a 45 per cent share in Block 6.1 in the Nam Con Son basin, off Vietnam’s eastern coast, which is operated by BP with a 35 per cent stake. The rest of the oil field is owned by PetroVietnam.
