Pai denies he criticised Infosys
“I was not trying to hit out at either Infosys or its founders,” said T.V. Mohandas Pai, outgoing Director of Human Resources Development of Infosys, who created a stir by announcing his resignation from the Board last week and is once again in the news.
Mr Pai told the channel that over the last three years Infosys had let competition overtake it in some areas, let conservatism creep into the corporation and witnessed its unique position decline.
He also said, the Board should have a transparent selection process for the CEO’s position and make sure that it chooses the best person for the job.
While speculation is rife that Mr Pai has resigned from Infy because he felt that he did not stand a chance of becoming its next CEO, as the tradition in the company is for the COO to take over the role of CEO as in the case of Nandan Nilekani and Kris Gopalakrishnan earlier, Mr Pai told Deccan Chronicle that most of the views that he had shared with the TV channel has been quoted out of context in the script.
“I have made my displeasure clear to the channel as the script put up online is incorrect. I have just approved a renewed script sent to me by the channel and that should be uploaded soon and will clear any doubts from viewers minds as to what I meant and in what context I said that competition has overtaken Infy over the last year and the fact that Infy has lost its sheen.”
He added: “You should listen to the entire interview of mine and see for yourself that I was not trying to hit out at either Infosys or its founders.”
