Planning Commission clears Haryana road project
The Planning Commission has approved the project of four-laning the 151-km long Kharak-Bhiwani-Dadri-Mahendergarh-Narnaul-Nangal Choudhary Kotputli road for grant of 20 per cent Viability Gap Funding (VGF).
The road will be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,366.95 crore on BOT (build-operate-transfer) basis, Haryana PWD minister Randeep Surjewala said here on Wednesday.
Request for Qualification (RFQ) has already been received, and work is expected to be awarded to the concessionaire by May-end, 2011, he said.
The road will connect Rajasthan from the Kotputli road and touch various places in the state providing an alternate route for travel to Bhiwani, Mahendragarh and other adjoining district.
Surjewala said keen on accelerating the pace of infrastructure development in the state, the Haryana government had taken the Public Private Partnership (PPP) route in the road sector.
The users will have to pay toll charges for using the roads being built under the PPP route, he said.
The project of four-laning of the Yamuna Nagar-Ladwa-Karnal section of state highway no. 6 and 7 on BOT basis with a length of 54 km, and estimated cost of Rs 435 crore, had also been sent to the Planning Commission for grant of VGF, he added.
