Pranab bullish on 9 per cent growth
Jan. 9: The Union finance minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, on Sunday said India had done well in recovering its growth momentum from the impact of recession, and is poised to register a 9 per cent growth by the end of the current fiscal.
Delivering his lecture at the central Navratna public sector unit, NALCO, Mr Mukherjee said the GDP growth in the first two quarters of 2010-11 had touched 8.9 per cent after an average of 7 per cent in the last two years and hoped the momentum would be retained till the end of the financial year. Stating that over the last decade the Indian economy had evolved, the finance minister said that around 2003-04, the GDP growth of the Indian economy had moved to a higher growth path.
