Rupee appreciates by 1 paise against dollar in early trade
The Indian rupee appreciated by 1 paise to Rs 46.79 a dollar in early trade on Thursday, on the back of fresh capital inflows by foreign funds. The domestic currency had closed 26 paise higher at Rs 46.80/81 in Wednesday’s session on strong rally in equities amid sluggish dollar overseas.
Forex dealers said the rupee strengthened against the US currency largely on fresh capital inflows by foreign funds into equities and gains in the Euro and Asian currencies against the dollar.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex rose by 149.97 points to 18,355.84 in the opening trade on Thursday.
