Rupee weakens by 10 paise against dollar in early trade
The Indian rupee on Tuesday weakened by 10 paise to Rs 47.01 a dollar in the early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market following the dollar's gains against other major currencies.
The rupee had ended lower by 2 paise at 46.91/92 a dollar in the previous session in volatile trade.Forex dealers said apart from dollar's gains against other Asian currencies, month-end dollar demand from importers and weak opening on the equity market also kept some pressure on the rupee.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, fell 68.58 points to 17,963.53 points in the opening trade on Tuesday.
